A man died after being restrained by police on Borough High Street. Investigation underway.

Someone reported a man making a disturbance. This call went to the police around 12:55 a.m. Officers arrived and located Adam Tidman. Restaurant security held him at Belushi’s. Police then restrained him outside. While restrained, Adam became seriously ill.
Paramedics transported him to a hospital immediately. The Metropolitan Police stated his condition endangered his life. He died seventeen days after this incident. The IOPC will investigate what occurred here.
They already gathered different kinds of evidence, including body-worn camera footage and CCTV recordings. They also got initial reports from the involved officers. The IOPC wants to find more witnesses to this event.
Amanda Rowe directs the IOPC. She sends her thoughts to Adam’s family and acknowledges others affected by this incident. Rowe thinks bystanders saw Adam being restrained and might have seen events leading up to it.
She says finding the reasons for his death is important. She asks witnesses to contact investigators to help them learn everything about his death. An inquest will happen soon. The IOPC gave the information about this future hearing.
