A man died after falling onto the M4 motorway. Earlier, he’d been arrested after being targeted in an online sting.

Police arrested him Friday night, and self-proclaimed “child protection” groups did a live stream. He was in custody on Saturday, before falling onto the M4 around 6:40pm. Vehicles then hit him on the road.
His death is not suspicious, and police will send a file to the coroner. They have also made a referral to the IOPC, as is required after a death involving police contact.
The police spokesperson acknowledged the incident, recognizing it is upsetting for some. They suggest seeking support if needed, advising people to see their doctor or contact charities like Mind and Samaritans. They also asked people not to speculate and requested privacy for the family, whilst thanking them for their patience with road closures.
The groups from the sting posted on Facebook, asking people to respect his family. The IOPC will assess the case and decide if an investigation is needed, having received a referral from Avon and Somerset Police, concerning the man’s death on Saturday.
