Someone was arrested for attempted murder in Newton Abbot. This happened after two people were seriously hurt. Police got a call around 12:50 am on Sunday, February 23.

A man and a woman were attacked near a pub called The White Hart on East Street. The attacker was another man.

The woman is in her 40s and the man is in his 50s. Both suffered injuries and received ambulance treatment at the scene before being taken to Torbay Hospital. Their injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing.

Following the attack, the suspect left the scene. Police investigated, going to a nearby home where they arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of attempted murder, twice. He is currently in custody.

Detective Inspector Nicky Baker stated that she wants to reassure the public that this was an isolated event. Police believe the suspect knew the victims. She also mentioned that many people witnessed the incident and asks that any witnesses contact the police.
