A man is imprisoned for over 15 years after stealing chocolate, attacking a shop worker, and robbing a wine shop.

Zach Porter, age 30, committed these crimes in Atherton, Wigan. The incident happened on January 4, 2024. He tried making the worker open the till.
That same day, he robbed a wine shop. He held a screwdriver to another worker’s ribs. He demanded they give him money.
Porter was found guilty in Bolton Crown Court. His charges include robbery, theft, and weapon possession. He will serve fifteen years and three months.
He hid chocolate bars in his pockets at the first store. Staff questioned him about the missing items. Porter grabbed a wine bottle and went to the door. He tried to force his way out. He wanted the staff member to open the till.
Porter hit them with the bottle. He tried preventing them from pressing the alarm. Then, he ran away from the store. Porter grabbed some cigarettes while fleeing.
Afterward, he entered a wine shop with a screwdriver. He pressed the screwdriver against a worker’s ribs. He demanded that they open the till. He stole cigarettes and over £200 from the wine shop. Police arrested him later that same day.
