Lucy Barlow chose Testwood Lakes Sailability. They raised £800 for this charity, which helps disabled people.

Lucy Barlow is the new commodore, leading Marchwood Yacht Club. She replaced Richard Aubry and chose Testwood Lakes Sailability. This became her charity for the year.
The charity requires over five thousand pounds yearly and charges a small fee for trips on their boats. The boats use a special dock near Totton at Testwood Lakes.
Testwood Lakes Sailability allows disabled people to sail.
Lucy and her husband Tim joined the club in 1999. Two club members volunteer there and John Kuyser gave a good presentation, explaining the charity’s work. She thinks they are amazing.
Sailing brings Lucy joy, and she wants to help others by making sailing easily accessible. Testwood Lakes Sailability was a good match.
The club raised the money recently at the commodore’s reception.
Lucy loves the water thanks to her dad, who taught at a navigation school. He pushed her to do more at the club, where she was the treasurer and then rear commodore. Her dad died in 2020 and never saw her become commodore. She was vice-commodore before.
Lucy helped Richard Aubry for two years and is happy to be the commodore.
