A drum and bass event is returning this year. Last year, a teen died from an overdose there. She was just seventeen years old.

The girl, Emily Stokes, overdosed on MDMA at the Worried About Henry festival. This happened at Dreamland in Margate. Park officials will increase security and improve safety measures.

Police requested a licensing review after Emily’s very sad death. She died at the QEQM hospital after taking pills inside Dreamland. Twenty-one other young people got sick too, likely from drug use.

The festival is coming back on June 29, one year and a day after Emily Stokes’ death. The event has a new name now: Margate Drum and Bass Festival. Organizers say it’s the same event.

Dreamland had a license review after June 28, 2024, due to concerns about venue security. The park now faces stricter rules for high-risk events.

They must have better drug policies and checks, and no one under 18 can attend. Staff must receive more training, including age verification training. More paramedics are needed and a no re-entry policy is also required.

Dreamland states safety is a top priority. The venue offers various music genres and the park says the 2025 program appeals to many fans.

Dreamland’s website mentions the festival’s performers, including Andy C and Wilkinson. A special guest will be announced later, and the rave is only for people over 18 who must show ID.

Promoters confirm the event is the same festival. Last year, police declared a major incident but let the show end to avoid public disturbances. Over 7,000 people attended, and three hundred forty-two were under 18.

An inquest into Emily’s death last September concluded it was from MDMA toxicity. A four-day hearing will occur in April involving people from Dreamland, ambulance staff, and security staff giving evidence.
