Vincent McCann reflects on 25 years at the Market Place Theatre. From its start in 2000 to upcoming celebrations.

Vincent feels lucky to work with Lynn and Sharon. They also started there 25 years ago. His role grew over the years. He finds it an honor to manage the theater.
Armagh had a strong arts culture. The council got lottery money to build the theater. It’s right in the city center. A contest picked the building’s design.
Glenn Howells won, from Birmingham. They designed it on a steep spot.
Vincent is proud to support local talent. The theater has done this since the start. The first shows starred local kids. A mime artist named Rowan Tolley also performed.
The theater should serve the community. It belongs to them, Vincent believes. It’s a place for families to make memories. It lets people express all feelings.
The team is planning a 25th anniversary event. It’s called “Curtain Up on 25” and it’s on March 1. It will showcase local and national talent. These people helped the theater succeed.
Vincent thanks his amazing team. They work in admin, tech, and front of house. Box office and marketing staff were thanked too. He also thanks the broader council team.
