Max Edney awarded Cornwell Badge for charity work at Basingstoke Gang Show, recognized for strength and character.

The Brittle Bone Society is the charity that Max’s work helped a lot. The Cornwell Badge honors young people who must show strength and good character.
Max has Brittle Bones (OI), a condition he’s had since childhood. It made his life harder than most, but he still wanted to help others very much.
Max raised over £142,000 for the charity with a big challenge in May 2024 called ‘Max’s Cycle Marathon.’ The marathon was 26.2 miles long. He wanted to raise £100 for a badge.
He broke bones during the marathon ride, but Max finished anyway and got praised nationally. Chris Evans and Carfest supported him.
Chief Scout Fields spoke highly of Max during the Gang Show, saying Max thinks of others always, even when he is in pain. Max cycled a marathon despite never riding far and breaking bones.
Fields said Max showed incredible courage, and the Scouts are very proud of him. The Cornwell Badge is very rare. Usually, only two people get one each year, and this has been true for 110 years.
Max’s family faced problems at first when doctors diagnosed Max with OI later in life. Police investigated unexplained fractures and suspected abuse initially, but the diagnosis stopped this suspicion. Max and his family help others since then.
Max spoke at Parliament and on TV and goes to many charity events each year while managing his condition. Maddie Day is Max’s good friend, and she helps him during charity events regularly.
