Meirionnydd Ramblers will walk Porthmadog to Criccieth on February 25th, following the Wales Coast Path. It is linear, covers 7 miles.

Criccieth is an old seaside town. Criccieth Castle overlooks everything. The castle’s history began in the 1230s. Welsh and English wars affected it. Owain Glyndwr’s rebellion was involved too.
Porthmadog is newer than Criccieth. William Alexander Madocks built the Cob in 1810. This embankment crossed the Afon Glaslyn estuary. Porthmadog thrived as a port because they shipped lots of slate from quarries.
The walk goes between these towns and follows the Wales Coast Path. The route goes from Porthmadog to Criccieth, going from the harbour through Borth y Gest, then crossing Ynys Cyngar.
The group will walk along Black Rock Sands, a beach with great views where Harlech and the mountains can be seen. The path leaves the beach and winds through fields near the railway before entering Criccieth.
The walk is grade C, linear, and moderate, covering seven miles, about 11.3 kilometers, and starts at 10 AM, ending around 3 PM in Criccieth. The grid reference is SH500379, postcode LL52 0DN. Take the train or bus back to Porthmadog.
The walk starts at Heol y Park’s car park, with a grid reference of SH568385 and postcode LL49 9AR. Please arrive before the start time to get ready.
