John Bugler is elected as president for 2025. He aims to bolster support for local farmers.

The Melplash Agricultural Society began in 1847. They put on the Melplash Show each year and host other events. The show is well-loved.
John Bugler joined Buglers about 50 years ago. He took over from his dad, Ralph Bugler, in 1990, becoming Managing Director. Buglers now has four locations in Beaminster, Axminster, and other towns.
Bugler spoke about farming’s local importance, as his family’s business has close farming ties. They connect with the Melplash Show and Buglers shows up every year. Ralph Bugler led the Society in 1986 and they back Discover Farming.
John Bugler will lead the Society in 2025. He feels farming really needs help now and events like COVID showed its importance. Future plans for farm tax worry many.
Buglers needs farming to do well, like others nearby. Bugler is glad to help local farmers and wants to help the Society succeed.
Bugler lived in Beaminster his whole life, attending schools in Beaminster and Bournemouth. He enjoys playing sports, having played football and cricket, even coached by Harry Redknapp. He also likes fishing and guitar and he and his wife Jo have four kids.
