Councillor Joan McTigue seeks donations of clothes, shoes, toys, and books for African orphans. Help improve young lives.

A visit to India in 1982 inspired her, where she witnessed profound poverty at an orphanage. It deeply saddened her. Now, she seeks to assist African orphans.
She serves as a councillor for Longlands & Beechwood, supported by Janet Thompson and Sharon Platt. They are requesting donations of items such as clothes, shoes, toys, and books.
McTigue emphasizes that children did not choose to be born into difficult circumstances. She argues that our discarded items represent a luxury for them. Remembering her visit to an impoverished orphanage in India she saw the children had nothing there.
Middlesbrough has demonstrated great generosity in the past. She anticipates that this appeal will also be immensely successful. It promises to significantly improve the lives of numerous young people and she thanks her fellow councillors for supporting this great cause.
The donated items will be temporarily stored at Town Hall. Subsequently, these donations will begin their shipping journey to reach their new owners soon.
