Midlothian council tax will increase by 10%. See new property band costs. Councillor Parry explains the reasons for the rise.

Kelly Parry is a Midlothian councillor who welcomed new funding from both governments. However, she also stated that they still need higher taxes to balance things.
Here’s what people in Midlothian will pay yearly: Band A is £1110.80; Band B costs £1295.94; Band C is £1481.06; Band D is £1666.20; Band E totals £2189.21; Band F equals £2707.58; Band G reaches £3262.97; and Band H is £4082.19.
Parry explained that the tax increase is partly due to higher National Insurance, as the UK government raised employer contributions last year. Authorities hoped for reimbursement, but they only received about 60% of added costs. Parry confirmed the 10% council tax increase for the next year.
Parry wants residents to know what this means, explaining that it adds about £150 a year for Band D homes, and that they expect individuals to value their views. She mentioned public input and highlighted that they kept leisure centers and community facilities open. They also saved instrumental music tuition and addressed health concerns with social care grants.
