A temporary banking hub has opened in Mildenhall, offering key banking services while a permanent location is sought.

The hub has a Post Office counter where all major bank customers can do cash tasks. Customers can also talk to their bank’s banker, who are available to help with tricky issues on certain days. Barclays is there Monday, and NatWest is there Tuesday.
Lloyds is there Wednesday, Santander is there Thursday afternoon, and Friday features HSBC. Lloyds and Barclays banks closed there earlier, so the hub gives a community banker for help.
Mayor Russell Leaman is happy about the new hub because it offers Post Office services. It came after the town lost its banks. Councillor Andy Neal said they delivered for locals and that it’s one of only 40 in the UK.
The hub is in town council offices, and the address is Recreation Way by Sainsbury’s. Customers can withdraw and deposit cash, deposit checks, and pay bills. They can also check balances and get change for businesses.
The Post Office manages the hub, but you cannot mail parcels there, nor can you buy stamps. Cash Access hopes to find a lasting site that will offer all the same services. Haverhill got one in November, and more hubs plan to open in Suffolk soon.
