Miles Lewis campaigns for stronger laws after his dog Yuki was attacked. He seeks better pet protection.

Lewis said a dangerous dog roams free. He feels helpless. Current laws don’t offer enough protection.
Lewis and his partner, Jae Lee, want tougher laws. These laws should address dog attacks on other dogs. Their MP, Ruth Jones, supports them.
UK guidelines mention animal attacks. A court might deem a dog “out of control”. This applies if it hurts another animal; it includes owners fearing injury.
Lewis wants the law changed soon. Dog-on-dog attacks must be criminal acts. He called Yuki’s attack “traumatic”.
Ruth Jones MP was shocked by Yuki’s injuries. The attack occurred on Risca Road. Dog attacks on people rose since 1991; however, data on dog-on-dog attacks is lacking. She believes similar incidents are increasing.
Jones says current laws are outdated. They are too often failing people and pets. She wants to tackle dangerous behaviour, encouraging proper dog ownership.
Jones will push for a law review. Changes are overdue, she stated. She wishes Yuki a full and speedy recovery.
Wales held a summit in 2023; it aimed to change laws on dangerous dogs. The UK Parliament must legislate this.
RSPCA Cymru is sorry about the incident. They hope Yuki recovers quickly. Dog owners must control their pets in public and private places.
Police enforce the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. RSPCA supports reviewing dog laws. They want less focus on specific breeds, hoping to prevent aggressive behavior. Clearer protection is needed for pets who often suffer attacks from uncontrolled dogs.
