Mold celebrated its outstanding citizens at the 2025 Community Awards, recognizing volunteers and local businesses.

Mold held its Community Awards on February 21st. It took place at the town’s rugby club. Around 100 people came. They waited for the award announcements. Winners were chosen in five categories. They also announced the Mayor’s Choice Award.

Councillors Sarah Taylor and Pete Dando were the hosts. Mayor Brian Lloyd presented the awards. He said they got a record 277 nominations. Many groups, businesses, and people do so much. It was hard to pick winners.

The awards are a town council favorite. He said hearing about nominees’ impact inspires him. The Mayor called it his year’s highlight. He felt proud of the town.

Tom Lloyd-Hughes won the Volunteering Award (under 25). He volunteers at the Hope House Shop. He started in August 2024. Before that, he volunteered at Pendre GP Surgery. He helped patients use e-consults.

Last year, he did a 24-hour litter pick. It aided Hope House Charity. Volunteers collected 55 bags of litter. Thirty people helped over 65 kilometers. He raised £2,100. He is a role model for young people.

Gareth Williams won the Volunteering Award (over 25). He has volunteered for many years. He assists groups and events, including Mold Carnival and Mold Food Festival. He helps Hope House with fundraising. He also became a Historic Mold Tour Guide.

Darren Cook (DJ Cookie) won Community Project of the Year. He and his cameraman help others. Cookie offers his DJ services for free. He helps charities across Flintshire. Cookie left his carer job for this.

For 20 years, DJ Cookie has volunteered. He aided over 2,000 events. He is a hard-working entertainer. He has a kind heart.

Celtic Financial Planning won Business of the Year. They support local initiatives. They helped local businesses and schools in 2024. They focus on community, environment, and charity.

They funded school revision packs. They sponsored new school resources. Celtic also gave laptops to schools. They did litter picks too. Celtic raised £5,000 for Hope House and aided the Mold Food Bank. A bake sale raised £2,500 for air ambulance.

Ace of Sports won the Sporting Achievement Award. They showed real community commitment. They work with Ysgol Bryn Gwalia. Their coaches are role models, building confidence and teamwork. The business teaches entrepreneurial skills, helping build relationships.

Angie Bebbington won the Mayor’s Choice Award. She made a difference in Mold. She volunteers as a lay preacher. Angie backs local churches since moving here.

Fifteen years ago, she worked with the local garden and the scout clubhouse. Both needed repair and faced vandalism. Angie raised money for these projects and recruited volunteers to help. The clubhouse and gardens changed a lot.

Deputy Mayor Paul Beacher enjoyed the community night. He said it difficult to pick winners. Mold is great because of the citizens. The night celebrated achievements. People give time to help the community.

Winners received a trophy and a certificate.
