Monmouthshire County Council faces a 46% drop in funding, impacting vital community groups and future projects.

Monmouthshire County Council will get less money. Their allocation will drop by 46 percent compared to what they received in 2024-25. These funding cuts affect many groups, including TogetherWORKS in Caldicot. They won’t get as much money during 2025-26.
The Shared Prosperity Funds arrive yearly. The Monmouthshire People & Place Partnership reviews requests and looks at the business plans.
The council still wants to help and will work with GAVO (Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations) to find funds for groups. About £46,000 will be available in 2025-26 to help groups become self-sufficient businesses that can support themselves.
The council and GAVO have a plan. They want the Together Works building to stay open because community groups need it and will have support. They issued a statement reiterating the importance of keeping the building open to help existing and potentially new groups.
Caldicot has many active community groups and a great community spirit. The council and GAVO want to help these groups by offering assistance during this change.
