A guy got a driving ban. Police stopped him, and he tested positive for cocaine.

Police were patrolling around 10:15 PM on July 26, 2024. They saw a car going the other way and information suggested the driver was using drugs. Cops stopped the car around ten minutes later on Castle Street in Fochabers.

The driver was Ryan George, age 25, who lives on Aird Street in Crudie. He took a test around 11:45 PM in Elgin, and the test showed cocaine in his system.

His cocaine level was very high, measuring 129 micrograms per litre of blood, while the legal limit is just 10 micrograms. His lawyer admitted the reading was high.

The lawyer, Megan Lee, explained George was having emotional struggles due to a breakup and was also unemployed then. She said George is now improving his life and things are better now. He went to counseling for his drug issues and also talked to his doctor, discussing the reasons he used drugs.

Sheriff David Harvie ruled that George cannot drive for 14 months and must also do 120 hours of unpaid work, which he has six months to finish.
