Moray Rape Crisis and Moray Women’s Aid receive funds to combat violence against women, supported by a £2.4M Scottish Government initiative.

The money comes from a £2.4 million fund that supports groups across Scotland. These groups work to stop violence against women and also provide funding to help victims of domestic abuse.
More than 100 groups will get financial support from the Equally Safe program. This program funds projects for violence prevention and helps survivors, too. The 2025-26 budget includes £21.6 million for this program.
Richard Lochhead, a Moray MSP, is happy about the support Moray Rape Crisis and Moray Women’s Aid are receiving. He hopes it helps local women and girls affected by gender-based violence.
Lochhead said both groups do important work fighting violence against women and girls. They also give key support to those affected by violence. Sadly, violence seems to rise across Scotland and the UK, and every effort must ensure freedom from abuse.
Lochhead welcomes more funding for Scottish groups that prevent abuse and support women. He hopes it aids the good local work Moray Rape Crisis and Women’s Aid do.
