SSEN is addressing new power outages affecting the Cotswolds, including areas of Poulton, Fairford and possibly Wiltshire.

The Poulton outage started early. It began at 3:44 AM on Tuesday, March 4. SSEN expects power back by 3:00 PM. The problem? A fault in the overhead network, which their engineers know how to fix.
The outage might affect Wiltshire too. It seems areas near Broad Hinton are impacted. That location is south of Swindon. SSEN is getting asked for more details.
Before this, Swindon had a big outage. Thousands in Penhill were affected. This Penhill cut happened the day before, on March 3. About 2,600 homes were without power.
Power went out in Penhill around 7 PM. SSEN’s report came at 7:23 PM. By 8:30 AM the next day, power was back. Everyone in Penhill seemed to have power again then.
SSEN said they knew about the Penhill cut. They noted 2,636 homes were affected. It was an unplanned fault affecting the area. Many streets had the same problem.
Engineers got to Penhill around 7:40 PM. The power map showed some fixes. But, 1,500 homes had no power longer. Initially, SSEN aimed for a 12:30 AM fix time.
The Penhill outage came from underground. The issue was with the underground cables. SSEN said this is a common fault. Their teams are ready for these repairs. Most of Penhill had the outage, while some homes near Pinehurst had a shorter cut.
