MP Rushworth toured homes at Bracks Farm, discussing homeownership and industry challenges with Gleeson Homes.

Rushworth toured the show homes, seeing the three-bedroom Brandon, Lisburn, and Tyrone models, and the four-bedroom Waterford model. He also observed homes being built on the site.
The visit provided a good opportunity for discussion. Rushworth and Gleeson talked about homeownership, focusing on accessibility for first-time buyers. They also discussed potential planning system changes that could speed up projects.
They also discussed the skilled trades shortage problem. Rushworth said he was impressed by their vision and commitment and noted practical solutions in action. These included affordable housing assistance and support for local trades and communities.
Rushworth said they tackled key sector issues that hold back new home supply, including planning, labor, and buyer support. He found the developer’s view useful and thinks they can work together on solutions and aid these initiatives. He might even try bricklaying.
Darren Howell, a regional managing director, spoke about the visit, stating it was a pleasure hosting Rushworth. The visit allowed them to discuss Gleeson’s work in providing homes at affordable prices, helping first-time buyers and others.
Howell saw Rushworth’s emphasis on accessibility, remarking that making homeownership easier remains important. They look forward to a future visit.
