Charlotte Nichols MP learned about the Battle of Winwick. She worked with two groups, the Battlefields Trust and the Winwick Society, discussing saving its history. This battle ended the Second English Civil War, where Cromwell’s army won against a Scottish force. The Scots wanted Charles I as king again.

The battle happened near Winwick village, specifically in the fields to the north. Nichols thanked Paul and Richard, expressing her enjoyment of the battlefield tour with them.

Their aim is to preserve this local history, ensuring that people can learn about it. She got soaked while there, remarking that the weather was reminiscent of 1648.

Paul Wright, chair of both the Trust and the Society, also spoke out. He was pleased Nichols visited the site, impressed by her willingness to brave the bad weather. Wright emphasized the national importance of the battlefield. It truly needs more recognition.

They want to preserve it for the future by planning to add features for education. These include information boards, and the creation of a monument.
