The MS represents Delyn. February is LGBT+ History Month. It is a time for reflection as we remember LGBTQ+ equality progress and celebrate overlooked figures. The MS championed LGBTQ+ equality before election and remains one of the few voices, a voice coming from personal experience. LGBTQ+ rights face attacks globally, and sadly, issues are also closer to Delyn.

They sponsored an LGBT+ History Month event hosted by Unite the Union. Unionists, activists, and allies attended, showing the importance of unity. Inclusion beats exclusion, and hope triumphs over hate. They also attended a Pride Cymru reception where speakers noted Cardiff’s first Pride march anniversary. Last year, Flint had its first Pride march, with the MS expressing feeling very proud of it.

The Welsh Government is strengthening partnerships, creating the Social Care Workforce Partnership, the first of its kind in the UK. Government, employers, and unions work together towards key priorities including union recognition and promoting union access. They want a real living wage for care workers who support vulnerable people. Unions support workers, strengthening social care’s future.

The MS fought for workers’ rights and welcomes the Employment Rights Bill changes as unfair practices went unchecked for too long, creating job insecurity. The system favored bad bosses, but now there is a chance to change it. This is a big step forward. The full New Deal for Workers must follow now.

They visited Greenfield Valley on Friday in Holywell, Flintshire, meeting with the Greenfield Valley Trust. They discussed plans to improve tourism to be a top destination in North Wales, including transforming the valley, encompassing lakes, parks, and monuments. Also, they plan to change the museum and bistro. The valley spans 70 acres and has 2,000 years of history. Nearby, St Winefride’s Well is located, which people consider a very old pilgrim site.

Road work is currently happening on the A494 between two roundabouts at night to resurface the road. Although the road remains open during work, people should expect some delays. The work should end by February 21st.

The A494 River Dee Bridge needs replacing as it is in poor condition. To make the bridge work for cars, trucks, walkers and bikes the Welsh Government is consulting people. Almost 70,000 vehicles use the bridge daily, and it is seen as North Wales’ gateway. Visit the Welsh Gov website, gov.wales/a494-river-dee-bridge-replacement-scheme, to share your views before the consultation ends on March 4.
