Ongoing soil issues at Cledford Lagoons raise safety concerns for bikers due to debris and slippery conditions.

Last December, worries arose about spilling earth. Loads were not secured well, folks said. GEDG first planned to use soil from a bypass project. That road project is near Cledford Lagoons and is on hold, awaiting government funding approval.
Now, soil comes from local sites. GEDG said they truck soil from nearby areas. GEDG admitted its lorries caused problems, adding that weather worsened the situation, too.
A speaker for GEDG stated loads get secured. They also said sweepers would be on Cledford Lane. However, a driver reports risks remain high. Soil still gets dragged onto the road.
A resident worries about motorcyclists a lot. He stops to clear stones and bricks because he feels compelled to remove road debris. He thinks it is an absolute scandal.
He adds a biker could die braking there. People don’t realize biker’s vulnerability. He drives a van that is high up and drives slowly because he knows the risk.
He mainly worries about young, new riders. Hitting a rock on a scooter ends badly. He believes a bad injury will occur soon and does not get how they allow it.
GEDG paused taking soil deliveries after Christmas and they try hard for a solution currently. Simon Towers from GEDG spoke up, saying the site has been closed.
The site is closed for earth deliveries now. GEDG concreted the lagoon access ramp this past week. This should stop mud on the main road. He says the site entrance is now clean and operations restart when concreting finishes.
