Russian woman Ekaterina Burnazkina abandoned her newborn in an airport toilet in Turkey before trying to board a flight.
She allegedly gave birth in a disabled toilet and then left the newborn before heading to passport control afterwards. CCTV footage shows her leaving the toilet and rejoining her family. Police stopped Burnazkina at passport control as she was going through.
Prosecutors say the baby was in freezing water, with her feet submerged. A cleaner found her and alerted officials after twelve minutes. Security footage shows Burnazkina alone entering the lavatory prior. She was stopped with her mother last October and denies attempted murder, stating she wants her child back.
The baby is now recovering in a hospital and is in stable condition. Burnazkina’s mother claims she didn’t know her daughter was pregnant at all. The trial is ongoing currently.
