Nairn Beach Wheelchairs trains volunteers for its March opening. The charity raised over £30,000 to support the project.

They had two training sessions this month where volunteers learn routes for beach access. They also learn how the hoists work, as hoists help people transfer safely.
Amelia Williamson chairs the charity. She said it’s a very exciting time with the launch date coming up soon. She also mentioned amazing community support, and volunteers are ready to welcome visitors.
Bookings open in March, and a launch party happens in May. You can find updates on their Facebook page, and their website also has details. Wheelchair loans are free, made possible by donations.
The charity raised over £30,000 since last year. They purchased four wheelchairs so far, and Highland Cross funding will buy a fifth one.
Two wheelchair models exist, helping all ages access the beach. They also aid those with mobility issues, featuring special tires for a smooth ride on sand.
Twelve volunteers attended the training sessions, which are held at their cabin located at the High Life Highland leisure center.
