NCP Apologises After Parking Fine Row in Darlington Store Car Park

Tony and Antoinette Colmer got a parking ticket after visiting Barker and Stonehouse in Piercebridge. The store advertised free parking for ninety minutes. However, NCP sent them a letter two weeks later demanding payment.

The couple was upset about the parking charge, and NCP later apologized for the mistake. They blamed an “incorrectly set up camera system,” which led Tony to worry about others affected by this problem. NCP has now stated they have canceled all incorrect fines for stays less than ninety minutes. They are informing those affected by letter and providing refunds to those who already paid.

NCP took over the car park last month and discovered the camera grace period was wrong. This caused them to issue notices to people staying less than ninety minutes, when only longer stays should have received them.

Tony and Antoinette’s visit was specifically to purchase a chair, but they struggled to find what they needed and left empty-handed. Tony’s wife was particularly shocked to receive the parking ticket after this unproductive trip.

Tony feels empathy for the store’s manager, believing he did everything he could under the circumstances. He is concerned the incorrect fines could negatively impact the store, as many people were unfairly caught out.

Barker and Stonehouse acknowledges the issue with the fines and clarified that NCP manages the car park independently. They contacted affected customers immediately, assuring them the tickets would be withdrawn. Furthermore, Barker and Stonehouse told NCP to fix this immediately and take measures to prevent any recurrence of the issue, demonstrating their commitment to helping customers.
