Railway unveils plans for a £2m Beamish-like site at Overton Station. Project includes museum, 1950s goods yard & train robbery coach.

The Overton Goods Yard Project will recreate a 1950s goods yard and also have a museum on site. It will include a Great Train Robbery coach. Overton Station is near Peterborough and is part of the Nene Valley Railway.
The project manager, Tim Hobman, spoke about the plan and thinks it will take 15 to 20 years to finish. Clearing the site began after Christmas.
They want to move some train cars and add information for visitors. Raising money to build a goods shed is the first goal. The shed will fix wagons and host events and will feature old offices. Actors can use these during special events, which creates a fully real experience.
A museum will replace an older plan and will show traveling post office items. The Great Train Robbery coach will be a key display and is being fixed up now at Overton station.
The coach carried mailbags during the event and the robbery is a key event in history. They want to tell its story in the museum. The team hopes to install a second platform, and they also plan for signals and a replica of the signal box; they want everything to feel authentic.
