The previous clerk left over 3,000 unread emails. The new clerk began in December 2024. They inherited these problems, which makes their job harder.
One problem is bank access, as they lack the needed signatures. This delays access to funds. Financial records are also missing, as is payroll information.
Audit Wales will help complete the overdue accounts. Vehicle thefts caused worry, and people are also worried about abandoned cars. Missing persons are another concern.
They talked about road safety. The new speed cameras are on Chepstow Road. The council gave more money to road signs and replaced the Blossom Close sign.
A show will help charities. A Tom Jones tribute act will perform, and the event supports Sparkle and Sara. Financial problems also exist for the council.
They can’t find some financial records, and they might have tax issues. This relates to council pay. The council tax stays the same, and they will check for extra payments. Taxes will also be reviewed.
The clerk now uses the cloud and updates the council website. They might use Office 365, which could improve how they work. The council will change some rules.
They are writing new rules to improve meeting minutes. Changes could happen to meeting times. Financial rules will be reviewed too, as they want to improve the council.
Someone suggested a maintenance deal. They discussed helping vulnerable people, and they also want to protect nature. These are important goals. The next meeting is February 18, 2025, and it starts at 7pm.
