Custom House regeneration completes new homes. Includes affordable options, job creation. Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz visits sites.

Newham mayor Rokhsana Fiaz visited the building sites on Freemasons Road and William Paton. She observed the progress of the construction work. The mayor expressed her satisfaction at seeing the homes being built. She believes they will significantly benefit local families who are in need of good, affordable housing.
This project is a component of the Affordable Homes for Newham program. The program has already delivered 500 homes. The program aims to construct an additional 1,000 homes by 2026.
The project has generated 82 jobs for local residents. Additionally, it has provided thirteen apprenticeships. Newham Council has released this information to the public.
Hill, the building contractor, collaborated with local schools. They also provided work experience opportunities for pupils. Hill’s director, Michael Turner, expressed his satisfaction. He highlighted that the homes were built to Passivhaus standards, expressing hope that that they benefit both people and the environment.
The project generates social value for the area through the creation of jobs and apprenticeships. Custom House residents in phase one, including families currently in temporary housing, are eligible to apply for these homes.
The council developed a housing allocation plan in partnership with the residents. The project offers a variety of apartment and maisonette sizes with one, two, three, and four-bedroom options. These units can accommodate up to seven people.
