Lancashire sees safer roads thanks to £93,000 investment in new drug testing technology.

Operation Limit targets December drink and drug driving. Grunshaw said a £93,000 investment helped by providing new drug testing tech, which was key to the campaign’s success.
Every UK police force does Operation Limit in December to stop impaired drivers. Police also aim to catch those who do drive impaired.
Grunshaw said 331 people were arrested, which is 24% more arrests than last year, and the operation focused on drink and drug driving. Grunshaw explained the 24% increase figure, noting that the stats could be misleading; however, the increase isn’t only bad news.
The office got £93,000 more funding, which went to upgrading equipment, including new drug testing technology, assisting the Operation Limit campaign. Many people tested positive thanks to the new tech, specifically drivers tested for drugs who would not even have been tested before.
Grunshaw thinks it shows progress. Lancashire roads are safer now, and the improved technology is helping police.
