Folks in Farnham are dealing with a crumbling sidewalk that fell apart soon after workers installed it. Joe and Samantha Higgins noticed the work happening near their home on White Cottage Close and were surprised by the new tarmac on those paths.

The new sidewalk quickly became a problem, as parts broke and peeled away easily. Joe Higgins said the work was shocking and that they cut corners. He also stated that the old path was better and called the new work “shoddy,” noting that it’s now a tripping hazard.

ITV Meridian News showed the bad work. Engineers returned to White Cottage Close and checked the sidewalk the following Tuesday. They planned to try again to fix it by the time of the news story.

Surrey County Council knows about the problems. A spokesperson said contractors would fix it. Catherine Powell, a local councilor, wasn’t happy with the situation and discussed it with a cabinet member. She was not kept informed by an officer.

Powell said the contractor will pay for repairs. The local councilor expressed disappointment and was unhappy with the work’s quality as well as the lack of updates. This information should keep you in the loop.
