The £30 million Halton Leisure Centre in Widnes is officially open, replacing the Kingsway Leisure Centre.
This new center replaces the Kingsway Leisure Centre. Kingsway is now closed permanently. The mayor and mayoress, the Wainwrights, opened it. They even cut a ribbon!
The new center has lots to offer now. You can find two pools for swimming there. Plus, there is a gym and a sports hall too. They have studios for fitness classes these days. A squash court, steam room, and sauna are ready. Community rooms are available for everyone too.
Many changing rooms and toilets are available now. They even include a special changing place area. This area helps people with disabilities greatly. A soft play zone and a cafe will open soon. They will both be on the ground floor.
Outside they built 150 parking spaces. They also installed electric car charging points there. Bike racks are available too. The council believes it has something for everyone here.
The council hopes you’ll visit the gym area there. Maybe you will swim or take a class here. Possibly try a new sport here too! The leisure boss calls the center amazing here. He thinks it’s a modern place for the community.
Being active helps you stay healthy. This center helps people join sports easily now. The construction firm also feels quite proud. They helped the council with the building.
