Eleven new homes get the green light near Keady High School after a close call with planning application deadlines.

Esther O’Neill, using Blackgate Property Services, made the application. The houses are near 14 Madden Grange and plans include eight semi-detached and three detached houses, along with parking spaces and access roads.
Planners said they approved an outline for eleven houses earlier, back on November 20, 2020. They visited and said the site hadn’t much changed since. The 2020 approval had some conditions, including O’Neill needing to apply with details within three years. These details covered designs, appearance, access, and landscaping.
She also needed a five-meter wide strip near a stream for maintenance access. Sewage disposal plans also needed approval. She applied on November 17, 2023, just three days before the old approval expired.
Officers think she met all the outline requirements. The new houses will be two stories high, matching other houses in Madden Grange, and they will have similar exterior finishes too.
Planners think the building suits the area, and density is like other housing around. The layout matches how Madden Grange is set up. The new houses won’t tower over older ones. They will also fit the street scene.
The landscaping plans are good, according to planners. Paved areas are only for access and parking, while hedges and fences mark boundaries. Finally, planners think the home sizes are good, anticipating future residents would have decent living space.
