Two new mobile libraries, costing £332k, will replace a temporary service in north and west Highland Scotland.

Many Highlanders use mobile libraries. The old vans were getting difficult to manage. The council and High Life Highland work together. The council owns and takes care of vehicles, while High Life Highland runs the actual service.
The council spent £332,000 on the vehicles, including all the necessary modifications. The new mobile libraries arrive this summer season. They cover the north and west areas and will replace a temporary delivery service.
IVECO will deliver the vehicle chassis next month. Cebotec in Falkirk will equip the interior. Steve Walsh, the Chief Executive of High Life Highland, said they are very happy about this.
He also said the new vehicles mean a service return. The council and High Life Highland invest in the service to protect it for the future.
Cllr John Finlayson chairs the Education Committee. He said the council invests to secure library vehicles. They want the service to resume quickly and thank everyone for their hard work.
