Debate over a new recycling center in south Warrington intensifies amid budget cuts and traffic concerns.

One idea is closing the Stockton Heath CRC. This could save £60,000 in 2025-26. Warrington has three CRCs right now. You can find them in Stockton Heath, Sandy Lane, and Gatewarth.
There’s also one in Woolston. It is on New Cut Lane. Ian Marks spoke about the recycling center. He thinks the Sandy Lane site in Stockton Heath must close.
He said we need a new replacement in the south. Homes England understands this requirement. Without a southern recycling center, traffic will worsen.
New buildings will add to this problem too. He is upset they did not promise a replacement. Someone asked when a new southern CRC will open.
They wondered if it would be before 2030. The development must provide land for this new waste facility. The spokesperson said they are speaking with Homes England. They will be looking at how to deliver this new facility. This discussion will happen within the development framework.
