Soju by Sumo is a new restaurant located at the Treadmills site. That site cost £20 million to develop and used to be a prison.

The restaurant serves East Asian food and wants to hire local people. More visitors should come to the site now that Soju by Sumo is open. The Treadmills project is owned by the council.

It kept all four old listed buildings, and there is a cinema plus shops. A restaurant area exists there, too. Mark Crane spoke about this new spot and said it is good for the local economy.

New businesses help town centers, and this restaurant might draw even more people. Northallerton helps other towns by attracting businesses. Soju by Sumo opened last month and has classic Chinese food.

The owner is named Gary Chin, and fifteen jobs came from this restaurant. He hopes it brings investments and said people really like it so far. He thinks the food is new for the town and likes being at Treadmills.

More businesses can draw more money. Big changes are coming to Treadmills in 2025 and a customer center comes this year. It will be in the Campus Building.

It moves from Stone Cross on Rotary Way. This center helps customers more easily and utilizes new technology for all. The council runs the 1852 Wing.

They take over in April; C4DI Northallerton used it before. It turned into a digital hub in 2020 after sitting empty for ten years prior.

Ten businesses use the C4DI offices, and the council wants to keep them there. They also want new businesses, as the council assists Northallerton.
