Police resume the search for Rania Alayed, murdered in 2013, focusing on the A19 in North Yorkshire after new information.

Now, police are back on the A19 in Thirsk, which is located in North Yorkshire. They will search beyond the previous area.
A police spokesperson stated they acted on available information. They want to help Rania’s family find closure.
Ahmed Al-Khatib received a life sentence in June 2014 and had to serve at least 20 years. His brothers helped dispose of the body, and they also went to jail.
Police called it a planned honour killing. Al-Khatib was angry and jealous because Rania wanted to control her own life.
Prosecutors said she became too westernized and was creating an independent life. The judge noted years of abuse, stating Al-Khatib treated her badly in life and death.
A brother claimed she was buried near the A19 lay-by. Now, officers are searching this area again, and they will try to cause minimal disruption, posing no risk to the public.
