Construction has started on a £6.7 million watersports hub. It will offer activities, skills & jobs, opening summer 2026.

The facility overlooks Loch Ryan, a scenic spot. Changing rooms and showers are planned, and the building will have classrooms and meeting rooms. A café and kitchen are also included, while offices and public spaces complete the design. It should open in summer 2026.
John Fenwick chairs the Stranraer Water Sports Association. He is glad construction began after hard work. Funders generously supported the hub. Young people helped mark the start.
The facility will change the association’s offerings. It will boost skills and create jobs locally. Stranraer will become a top water sports spot, and the hub will help the town’s regeneration.
Struan Young helped break ground. He looks forward to the building being finished. Water sports gave him opportunities and confidence. He races dinghies and has instructor qualifications. The hub will hold events and activities. It will be great for socialization and learning, and he will join the Young Instructor team there.
