Wellen Court, located on Haxby Road in York, opens with focus on dementia care and resident independence.
Adam Bloor is the clinical director. He wants Wellen Court to help the community and support people with dementia and their families. The goal is for residents to be independent, receiving support when needed, because residents are the top priority.
They help people with dementia and related issues. Both private and local patients are welcome. Wellen Court has 20 private rooms, all with bathrooms, along with a dining area and a TV room. They offer a lift, disabled access, and Wi-Fi too.
The building is designed for dementia patients. It has low windows and wide doors for ease. Even the dishes are designed to help. They focus on what residents like to do.
Visitors can come anytime. Families can spend quality time with loved ones. Even kids and pets are welcome, and they can use private rooms for visiting.
The Care Quality Commission rates them as ‘Good’. Schoen Clinic started in 1985, and now they are a big hospital group in Germany. They treat many patients each year across many locations. They came to the UK in 2017.
