Okay, so work is starting on the Newbridge landslip. This happened back in January 2021 when Storm Christoph caused the B5605 road to collapse.

The council has stated that some work already happened, which includes replacing bridge joints. Also, Scottish Power is in the process of completing cable work as part of realigning the power cable.

They secured permits to work by the River Dee on February 7th, 2025. Now, they are removing loose material from the slip’s base and getting everything ready for a large rig.

This rig will be used to install a concrete wall which will provide support for the road. Twelve thousand tonnes of material are needed to restore the embankment.

Delivery of the fill material has started, resulting in increased traffic on the B5605 between Whitehurst junction and Penybont. A road sweeper will be used to maintain cleanliness as required.

Grant money might have presented some challenges. However, the Welsh Government is supporting Wrexham to ensure the project proceeds without issue, and the start of the new financial year won’t affect the project.

Cllr Terry Evans announced that work is commencing soon. The road is expected to reopen by spring or summer 2025, and updates will be provided as progress is made on the repairs to the B5605.
