The B5605 road repairs should end in May. The Leader reported this before. Storm Christoph caused a landslip in 2021. The road closed then and stays closed now.

The closure’s fourth year started January 25. Locals find the road closure very annoying. Traffic is awful near Llangollen. It gets worse when the A483 viaducts shut.

Ken Skates shared a Wrexham Council update. It explained delays due to permits needed. The council gave another update. Lots of work will happen soon.

The road should reopen this spring or summer. They still need to provide an exact date. Work has continued on the closed road part. Workers replaced the Newbridge bridge joints. They also realigned the 11kv power cable. The bridge work is now complete.

Scottish Power’s team are finishing the cable work. Preparations are underway for a rig. The rig installs a concrete wall that will protect the road. About 12,000 tonnes of fill will rebuild the embankment. The material is arriving at the site.

More traffic will use the B5605. This will be between Whitehurst junction and Penybont. The council is talking with the Welsh Government. They are discussing funding from the Resilient Roads grant. The grant money doesn’t automatically renew. They want leftover funds to carry over.

The Welsh Government will support Wrexham. This ensures the project runs smoothly. Terry Evans said construction starts quickly. The council plans to fix the B5605. The road should reopen this spring or summer in 2025. They will provide updates when goals are met.
