Residents question the half-term repair timing. Skaters seek infrastructure upgrades at Victoria Park skatepark.

People complained on Facebook. They said kids had little else to do, and residents wondered why that week was chosen.
Skaters are glad the park is maintained. One skater, Ashli Young, uses it daily and said skaters were a bit annoyed, but they were still happy it was getting fixed.
Young thinks Newbury should do more; he said it’s key for local youth and kids talk about their lives there.
The skaters want lights at the park so they can use it after dark. The nearby tennis courts have lights, and they also want a path to avoid mud.
Young will push for lights and a path. He plans to start campaigning in April and he also wants approved graffiti at the park, thinking it supports art.
He suggested a summer community event, where artists could decorate the park. Young people could then learn to paint murals.
