The charity will remain at Hambridge Lane, with Swift Logistics aiding in the search for a new permanent home.
Newbury Soup Kitchen is at 1 Hambridge Lane now. Swift Logistics Group owns that building, acting as their landlord.
Last October, the charity planned to move due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Swift now gave them extra time and will support their rent, allowing the soup kitchen to search for a permanent place.
Meryl Praill runs Newbury Soup Kitchen. She expressed great happiness about this news, stating that they still desire their own site. This site would combine the kitchen and storage, and also have offices and client space.
The CEO thanked Swift and its team, noting Swift’s ongoing support for Newbury Soup Kitchen. They helped again, which is great. This gives them more time to find a new location where all services can be combined.
Greenham Trust also helps the soup kitchen, and together, they seek a new property. The new place needs to be near town and include offices, parking, and storage. It also needs a large food area, enabling outreach programs.
