Newham sees highest crime rate in east London for 2024, with 43,593 offenses reported, a 7.7% increase driven by theft.

Crime in Newham went up by 7.7% compared to the year before. Theft was the most common crime, with 14,363 cases. Violence came next with 9,899 cases. Vehicle offenses totaled 4,433, while drug offenses were at 2,123, an increase of 22%.
Tower Hamlets had the second-most crimes, reporting 36,547 offenses in 2024. Theft was most reported there too, with 11,075 cases. Following theft, violence was second with 9,779 cases.
Waltham Forest had the third-highest crime count, totaling 25,026 reported crimes. Theft was most frequent at 7,118, and violence against a person followed closely at 6,197.
Redbridge reported 23,863 criminal offenses. Violence against people was most reported, with 7,687 reports, while theft had 5,811 reports. Havering reported 20,233 crimes and had the second-lowest crime count. Violence against a person topped the list at 6,079.
Theft followed with 4,858 reports, while vehicle offenses were at 2,498. Arson and damage were reported 1,595 times.
Barking and Dagenham had the fewest crimes, reporting 20,077 offenses in 2024. Violence was the most common crime, with 6,879 cases recorded. Theft appeared 4,248 times, while vehicle offenses happened 2,318 times. Drug offenses had 1,140 reports.
