Complaints arose regarding hygiene issues prompting an apology as cleanliness standards declined.

They said showers and toilets were often broken. Slippery floors and plumbing repairs bothered them. Crissall said many people are canceling memberships. Councillors will write to Abbeycroft Leisure about the worries.
The Newmarket Journal heard similar complaints. People said their concerns to the center went unanswered too. The center had a big renovation back in 2019. It cost £1.8 million.
Abbeycroft apologized for the problems some users faced. Tracey Loynds is their operations director. She said changing room cleanliness dipped during half-term. Many people used the facilities then. They clean the rooms daily.
Drains get power-washed twice a week. Now, drains will be power-washed every day during school holidays. They schedule deep-cleans six times each year. One deep clean happened on Sunday.
Loynds asked people to keep buggies out of the changing area. Buggies bring in dirt on their wheels, she noted. There is now a buggy park behind the reception area. They will add signs for it soon. They need customers to keep buggies out.
About slippery floors, they found no reported slips. They will add a slip-stop product, to be used in the regular schedule of cleaning. Staff can fix small maintenance issues, if possible. They use tradespeople for other issues. A plumber came on Friday for the urinals.
The email system had a glitch. They may have missed some customer emails in January. They fixed that problem now.
