Hey, a lot happened this week! It was National Apprenticeship Week. Many places in Worcestershire offered training chances.

Jenna works at Newmedica Worcester, an eyecare clinic, as the HR lead. She is finishing her level five apprenticeship, and she has worked at the company for two and a half years.

Jenna is really positive about apprenticeships. She says they help you learn on the job, and she likes the mix of theory and hands-on work. Jenna feels apprenticeships are better than just classroom learning because you are more motivated and remember information better.

She says getting responsibility is great, as you grow and realize what you can do. Jenna advises anyone to try an apprenticeship, saying it is a funded opportunity for growth, and asks, “So, why wouldn’t you do it?”

The clinic, at Berkeley Business Park, helps NHS plus private patients while also helping the NHS reduce waiting lists. The clinic offers eye care services, including surgeries for cataracts and eyelids. They also do YAG laser treatment, which addresses some glaucoma cases.

Josh Raden, the operational director at Newmedica, supports Jenna’s development. Josh focuses on learning and growth, wanting people to reach their full potential. He ensures Jenna gets training and gives her feedback on her work. She also manages an apprentice, and her own experience helps her guide them.

Josh knows the value of apprenticeships, as he started his career as one! He thinks they help both employees and employers. Some people learn better through hands-on experience, and apprenticeships give them that chance while being supported by education’s discipline.

Jenna’s apprenticeship helped her learn new things, and she is now an executive assistant. This recognizes her work and helps improve the service. Her knowledge and the apprenticeship theory helped her grow.

Newmedica Worcester has several leaders, including many consultant ophthalmologists. Josh Raden is part of the leadership team, too.
