Locals are thrilled about the new, larger Home Bargains store in Newport, with its grand opening set for May 31.

It’s massive and has a garden center, which, along with the store’s parking, makes people happy. Deb Lewis Debra Yeates said she missed it and hopes the store keeps its kind feel.
Lauren Watson is glad the new store is bigger, as she thought the old one was too small. Natalie Lorraine Harris loves it and can’t wait. Becks Tutton thinks it looks massive too. People are excited about shopping, and Emily Dixon said it might have a café.
The community really wants Home Bargains to open and thinks it will improve local shopping a lot. It is being built on Docks Way in Newport and will be much bigger than the one in Newport Retail Park.
The new unit is located in Mendalgief Retail Park, specifically in Maesglas, and measures 3,000 square meters. It plans to have a garden center and a café. This project creates about 90 jobs with £10 million invested, and the retail store has already started hiring people.
The grand opening date is set for May 31. The store aims for a better shopping trip. The expansion wants to serve the community better with a bigger choice of products and services.
The store has been a long time coming, with plans starting over two years ago and submitted at the start of 2023.
