Major Newton Abbot projects, including Market Hall renovations and Bradley Lane homes, are progressing as planned.

Refurbishing the Market Hall is part of a town plan. The government’s Future High Streets fund pays for this. These funds also cover Queen Street changes and the old mill project.
Traders moved to the old Post Office during work. The £5 million project upgrades the historic market hall and this building earned a Grade II listing.
The first step was demolishing part of the food hall. This created a new walkway for people. The council wants a lively space with many things, including a bar, food stalls, shops, a cafe, and event areas.
The main structural work should finish this year. Palethorpe said the project progresses well now, adding that the heavy work is about to start.
Palethorpe mentioned Bradley Lane’s importance and that it will add affordable homes to Newton Abbot. Some want to stop the mill building’s demolition, though.
The site’s clearance shows progress, Palethorpe stated. It has created some interest as a brownfield site. It is ideal for new homes that they need, and all the major projects are on target.
