Joanne and Neville Jones run Community Spirit. They will use the lottery money soon. The charity fights poverty in Newton Aycliffe and improves public spaces. They support vulnerable residents, aiming to make the town better.

The charity runs “Keep Aycliffe Tidy” and loans wheelchairs for free. Joanne learned of the £10,000 grant in December while wrapping gifts. A street won £1 million earlier, and The Postcode Lottery supports local charities as well.

Joanne thought the call a joke first but called the lottery back. They confirmed the grant was real, and the money is now in their bank account. They promptly bought needed wheelchairs.

The Postcode Lottery found Community Spirit on Facebook. The money funds them for the year, but normally, they fundraise constantly. Fundraising events will still happen.

Joanne feels a great sense of relief, as this helps them rebuild community spirit. Charities often apply for funding, but this time, the lottery contacted them. Joanne remains very grateful for all the support.

Community Spirit gives aid to families. They offer food, furniture, and goods. They also host free events for the community, bringing people together.
