Terri-Marie Watts gets 28 weeks for shoplifting and assaulting a police officer in Newton Aycliffe.
Watts also tried to hurt a police officer after one of her arrests. The court in Newton Aycliffe heard the case.
She stole from places like Tesco and Morrisons, also targeting Boyes, Sainsbury’s, and Poundstretcher. She took household items and food products.
The prosecutor said Watts was arrested for theft and then assaulted the officer. She tried a headbutt, but didn’t hit the officer.
Watts admitted to the crimes, pleading guilty to eleven counts of shoplifting. She also admitted assaulting a police worker and confessed to resisting arrest.
Her lawyer, Ben Pegman, spoke about her past, attributing her recent issues to drugs. He said her criminal record wasn’t that bad.
The judge, Lois Neal, gave Watts a sentence of twenty-eight weeks for her crimes, aiming for a sensible outcome. The judge thinks Watts can improve using support systems.
Watts must also pay money to those she hurt. She owes businesses £346.64 and owes the officer £50.
